My Chickens

Almost a year ago, our family got chickens In this one year, some have gone and some have come. We have had eight chickens all together.

Honey Comb (Big Guy) was our rooster. Sadly he moved to a bigger farm because we couldn't keep him. He was the sweetest thing. Here is a picture of him

Another chicken we have is Shadow. She is my chicken. She is always ready to follow another chicken, but likes to stay alone in the garden scratching at the dirt. Here is her picture.
Shadow

Another chicken we have is Snowball. Her and her companion Auburn are top of the pecking-order and always lead the others around. Snowball is very sweet once you've calmed her down, but she can run faster than all the others! (She can run super fast!) Here is My little brother and his chicken Snowball.

Now for Snowball's companion, Auburn! Auburn is a very sweet chicken. She always lets you pick her up, But when she wants to run, you can't stop her! She is my brother Ryan's chicken since we gave Big Guy away. Here is her picture.

Auburn

Time for Cookie Dough! She is very cute, but is also kinda mean. She wants to be top of the pecking-order, but for now, she is second. We all share her. She usually spends her time sitting on her eggs, or sitting in her hole in the dust. She helps her sisters by protecting them from us! (When we try to pick one of the chickens up.) Here is a picture of her in the nesting box.

And Penny! She gets picked on by the other chickens, but she is the sweetest thing. She is a bit older than the others because we got her from some neighbors. She didn't look so good when we got her, but after a month of living at our house, she was restored to full health. Here is her picture.
Penny

Midnight was a very sweet chicken. Identical to Shadow they were best friends and sisters. She never bit anyone. She lived from May 23rd 2009-Feb. 17th 2010 Here is a picture of her Headstone.

Last but not least, we had Little Ann. She was sick when we got her. She only lived one day. We got her at the same time as Big Guy, Shadow, and Midnight. Here is Little Ann as a chick.

Even though chickens basically only eat, drink, lay eggs, sleep, and poo, they are still a lot of fun. I'm glad we got chickens and I hope you enjoyed learning about them.

My Gingerbread House

Yesterday at my school the fifth-graders decorated their gingerbread houses. I'm in fifth-grade so I got to do that as well. The houses were fun to decorate. Most of them fell apart. Here is mine put back together.

This is the front of the house.

This is the back of the house.

It was a lot of fun. I loved it!
